Questions about employing in Guinea

What does it take to employ a foreign national in Guinea?

Hiring a national of a country outside ECOWAS in Guinea needs prior authorisation from the public employment service. Every foreign hire's contract is written and runs for up to four years. It carries the same service's visa, which is deemed granted after 30 days without an answer. A work permit comes before the residence visa.

What does an unjustified dismissal cost?
Where the employer cannot prove a reason, a court orders at least six months' salary. Where the procedure was not followed, it orders three months' salary on top.
How many fixed-term contracts can be used?
No more than two in a year with the same employee, and up to two years in all with renewals. Beyond that, the contract becomes open-ended.
